Application Value of Oxygen Cone in High-Density Aquaculture

1. Working Principle of Oxygen Cone

An oxygen cone, also named dissolved oxygen cone, is a professional gas-liquid mixing and oxygenation device applied in intensive aquaculture. Different from traditional aerators that produce large bubbles escaping quickly, the oxygen cone adopts vertical conical structure and pressure circulating water flow.
When water and pure oxygen enter the cone from the top, they form strong rotational turbulence inside. The swirling flow cuts oxygen into countless micro fine bubbles, extending the contact time between oxygen and water. With the help of gravity and pressure difference, oxygen fully dissolves into the water body, realizing high-efficiency oxygen dissolution in a short time.

2. Core Advantages Over Traditional Aeration Equipment

Oxygen cone has obvious advantages compared with impeller aerators, jet aerators and air stone aeration. It achieves oxygen dissolution efficiency above 90%, far higher than traditional equipment. It runs with low power consumption, saves electricity cost for breeding farms, and operates quietly without disturbing fish and shrimp.

The equipment has no rotating vulnerable parts, simple structure and low failure rate. The inner wall is smooth and not easy to attach dirt and algae, reducing cleaning frequency. It can maintain stable high dissolved oxygen all day long, avoiding hypoxia stress caused by sudden oxygen shortage.

3. Suitable for High-Density Intensive Aquaculture

With the development of modern aquaculture toward high density and industrialization, traditional aeration methods can no longer meet the oxygen demand of high-density fish and shrimp breeding.
Oxygen cone can stably maintain high dissolved oxygen in limited water volume, effectively improve feeding efficiency, accelerate growth, reduce feed coefficient, and lower the incidence of disease. It is widely used in tilapia, catfish, shrimp, crab and other high-density breeding projects.

4. Wide Application in Recirculating Aquaculture System

RAS recirculating aquaculture system has strict requirements on water quality and dissolved oxygen. Oxygen cone has become standard supporting equipment for RAS system due to stable oxygen supply and small occupied space.
It can be installed indoors and arranged in a modular way, matching biological filtration, sedimentation and disinfection equipment perfectly. It helps realize water recycling, zero discharge and environmentally friendly breeding mode.

5. Application in Fry Cultivation and Live Fish Transportation

In fry and larva breeding stage, water quality and dissolved oxygen requirement are extremely strict. Oxygen cone provides mild and stable oxygenation without strong water flow impact, protecting young fry from injury and improving seedling survival rate.

It is also widely used in live fish transportation tanks and temporary rearing pools. It keeps dissolved oxygen balanced during long-distance transportation, reducing mortality and improving economic benefits.

6. Material Durability and Long Service Life

Most oxygen cones are made of FRP fiberglass reinforced plastic, food-grade PVC or stainless steel. The material is corrosion-resistant, aging-resistant, sun-proof and frost-proof, adapting to indoor and outdoor harsh breeding environments.
It is not easy to deform or leak after long-term operation, with a service life of more than 10 years, almost no later maintenance cost. It has high cost performance and becomes essential oxygenation equipment for modern standardized aquaculture farms.
