Things You Want To Know About GRP Tanks

Mar. 10. 2022

GRP tanks or glass-reinforced plastic tanks are now the leading industry standard water container on the market today. Given their lightweight, strong and serviceable fiberglass design, GRP tanks can safely store water without risk of corrosion or bacterial contamination.

In addition, given the materials the tanks are made of, they are also resistant to external temperatures and harsh weather, meaning the tanks will not degrade over time. These materials also make the tanks pliable, which means they can be adjusted at the manufacturing level to meet any specific access or location needs.

Uses of GRP water tanks

GRP tanks are used in a wide range of applications. Popular uses include rainwater storage, so homeowners and companies alike can become more environmentally friendly and reduce wastewater; impregnation tanks for manufacturers to paint their goods, and fire sprinkler reservoirs to ensure water is maintained in the event of a fire in a commercial building. In addition, the materials they use allow them to be adapted and manufactured on a professional level for storing chemicals in a safe and controlled environment in the workplace.

Design flexibility and customization of GRP water tanks

Given their inherent materials, GRP water tanks are fully customizable units; they can be manufactured in virtually any shape and size, depending on the consumer's requirements. The color of the tanks is also customizable, which is an important feature for companies storing large quantities of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals; color customization allows for immediate identification of the GRP tanks and their contents.

This level of consumer customization means that tanks can be built specifically for a company's needs, rather than falling into a "one-size-fits-all" scenario where a company must adapt its workflow and environment for the tank.

LANDYOUNG GRP Panel Type Water Storage Tank system is designed for every need, with unit sizes from 1m³ to 4,000m³ (1,000litres to 4,000,000litres).

The panel tank is a modular system, enabling a tank of any desired size and shape to be constructed. Panel sizes are from 0.5 to 2.0 meters in height and could be combined to create a tank up to 4m high. Formed from hot-pressed GRP. All units offer the option of integral insulation.

Temperature and Storage of GRP Tanks

Temperature also means everything when it comes to water and chemical storage. Keeping the temperature in the tank below 20 degrees Celsius will ensure that the risk of bacterial growth is greatly reduced. Using pre-insulated GRP tanks, water can be kept within the maintenance temperature range, meaning that this microbial growth can be prevented at the source.

Insulation is available in a variety of thicknesses depending on the consumer's needs, but typically the insulation is around 25 to 100 mm thick. When it comes to water storage, peace of mind is everything - the ideal tank is one that can be purchased, installed, and used individually without worrying about the integrity of the tank or the sanitary standards of the water being stored.

Despite its' great strength, GRP is lightweight – just 1/3 one-third the weight of an equivalent steel panel. All panels can be lifted by hand, with no special equipment required even where access is difficult, and installation can progress quickly and efficiently.
